assignment 6 metaphors in art

a metaphor is the comparison of two dissimilar things in a way that one represents the other. in writing, its simply a comparison without using like or as:  “the world is a stage…” Just as writers do, artist use metaphors to make their work more interesting and thought provoking as well as heighten communication and immediacy.  birds are commonly  used to represent freedom and peace. these could be considered cliches, or  metaphors that are way overused.  Dali often used repeated images of crutches in his paintings which were his way of expressing the support for the inadequate as a part of life and death and based on Frued’s influence on Dali, probably had something to do with his mother…
